Yuuisai Kodokan: Kyogashi Exhibition 2026 – The Kan’ei Gyoko Emaki (Illustrated Handscroll of the Kan’ei Imperial Visit)

Launched in 2013, the Kyogashi Exhibition celebrates the artistry and cultural heritage of Kyoto’s traditional confectionery.

For Kyogashi Exhibition 2026, the theme is “The Kan’ei Gyoko Emaki (Illustrated Handscroll of the Kan’ei Imperial Visit).” Inspired by the splendor of the Kan’ei Gyoko (Imperial Visit by the Emperor), the exhibition reimagines the spirit of the Kan’ei era—when culture and the arts flourished together—through the creations of contemporary Kyoto confectioners.
