To commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Kan’ei Gyoko, the Ikenobo School of Ikebana will present a cultural lecture focusing on rikka (a traditional formal style of ikebana), one of the cultural traditions that flourished during the Kan’ei era.
With a particular focus on the Important Cultural Property “Rikka no Shidai: Kyujusanpei Ari” (A Collection of 93 Rikka Arrangements), the lecture will explore the floral arrangements of the period and their connections with Emperor Go-Mizunoo, tracing the origins and development of rikka.
