A special feature on the Kan’ei Gyoko appeared in the “Bi no Iki” section of the Nikkei on August 23, 2026.
The feature introduces works including the “Nijo Castle Imperial Visit Folding Screens” (Edo period; Kyoto City-designated Cultural Property; collection of the Sen-Oku Hakukokan Museum) and Kano Tanyu’s “Pine Trees and Peacocks” (collection of the Nijo-jo Castle Office, City of Kyoto).

As part of the Kan'ei Gyoko 400th Anniversary Festival,
we are committed not only to faithfully recreating the Gyoko Procession (Imperial Procession)
based on historical records,
but also to preserving and passing on Japan's cultural heritage and
traditional craftsmanship through initiatives such as the creation of historically accurate ceremonial costumes.
