Beginning Friday, August 28, 2026, a special exhibition inspired by the Kan’ei Gyoko will be held at the Kyoto Ceramic Center.
The exhibition brings together 18 ceramic artists. Drawing on the impressions and images each artist has taken from the Kan’ei Gyoko of four centuries ago, they have expressed their individual interpretations through contemporary ceramic works.
How will the Kan’ei Gyoko, a historic event from four centuries ago, be reimagined through the hands of artists working today? The distinctive perspectives and sensibilities of the 18 participating artists are among the highlights of the exhibition.
